Finance Manager

The Finance Manager is responsible for the Finance department and the Finance team which support the financial accounting and closing activities for Kongsberg Discovery Malaysia and other Group business areas represented in Malaysia. We seek someone with experience from similar position in international corporates and possess strong technical knowledge in accounting and analytics. The position will work closely with regional and local Country Finance stakeholders to ensure timely, quality and support in the accounting records maintenance, financial reporting and/or other ad-hoc tasks. The Finance Manager also plays a vital role in driving process standardization and improvement to strengthen our financial controls, compliance and reporting. The position reports to General Manager of Kongsberg Discovery Malaysia.

What you will be doing

  • Financial Reporting & Planning: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) and develop financial models and forecasts to provide valuable insights into company performance, supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Compliance & Accuracy in Finance Operations: Ensure all finance operations, reporting, and monthly closing activities (including journal postings, P&L analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation) are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with both local and Group accounting standards.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Act as a business partner to management and internal stakeholders, providing performance analysis, financial insights, and conducting monthly financial reviews to highlight key issues and resolutions. Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, such as banks, auditors, and tax teams.
  • Liquidity & Tax Planning: Manage liquidity planning and coordinate with external partners for audits and tax filings, ensuring timely and compliant filing of statutory accounts and income tax returns.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, motivation, and guidance to drive team engagement and development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Encourage and drive continuous process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the finance department and broader organization.
  • Digital & System KnowledgeStrong proficiency in digital financial systems (e.g. Dynamic 365, ERP, cloud-based platforms), with experience in implementing, integrating, and optimizing financial software to streamline processes and enhance reporting accuracy.

 We think you should have

  • Experience & Leadership: At least 8-10 years of relevant working experience, including 3 years in a managerial role within a Multi-National Company, ideally with exposure to audit or logistics industries.
  • Financial Knowledge: Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and tax rules.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Self-motivated, results-oriented with a decisive coaching leadership style and the ability to guide teams to achieve both short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: A strong advocate for continuous improvement, with a proven ability to drive standardization and process optimization across teams and operations.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment, with proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experienced in data analytics (a plus).
